General School Information
OUR MISSION
PS 40 is a multicultural and multi-ethnic community where parents, children, teachers and administrators collaborate to provide a supportive environment for each child. We promote academic excellence and enhance self-esteem through standards-driven instruction. PS 40, a recipient of a federal magnet grant, utilizes an interdisciplinary approach to learning in which students participate in collaborative, inquiry-based work. Students are encouraged to think critically, and appreciate Literature and Mathematics. Social Studies and the Arts are integral parts of our program. Our arts program focuses on visual and performing arts: choral, instrumental and music appreciation.
