 Hospitality Night
Please join us in the auditorium at 6:30 pm on Wednesday, September 21, 2011 for the first PTA meeting of the school year, followed by Hospitality Night.
At the PTA meeting, our Principal Susan Felder, will give an update on school news. You will meet the PTA Executive Board and the School Leadership Team, and hear about upcoming events and volunteer opportunities. Free babysitting is available.
Hospitality Night will take place in the courtyard, immediately after the PTA meeting. Here families gather for a friendly get-together, enjoying light refreshments while getting to know each other. Parents who chair PTA committees and events will be on hand to answer questions about volunteer opportunities at P.S. 40. Don't miss this important and fun evening at P.S. 40!
Hospitality Morning
If you can't make it to Hospitality Night, please join us for our Hospitality Morning on Tuesday, September 27. Get to know what is going on with the PTA and how you can be a part of it. Free coffee!
Picture Day
Mark your calendars for P.S. 40's Picture Day! Individual and class photographs will be taken for Pre-K through 5th grade on Monday, November 7, 2011. Class photographs will only be taken on this day-so don't let your child miss the chance to be in his/her class picture.
Volunteers are needed. If you are able to help, please contact picture day chairperson .
KidsArt Fundraiser
KidsArt returns to P.S. 40 this fall! This creative and crafty fundraiser focuses on the artistic expression of our children. The artwork is produced with art teacher, Craig Kane, in art class and can be turned into everything from notebooks to ornaments. Projects and order packets will be sent home in October. Completed orders will be returned to you before Thanksgiving-just in time for holiday gift giving!
Fright Night
Fright Night, P.S. 40's fabulously family friendly Halloween Party will be held Saturday evening, October 29, 2011. Get ready for the legendary P.S. 40 Haunted House, face painting, games, DJ, and creepy crafts! There will also be prizes for costumes and pumpkin carving. We need many frightful, and not so frightful, volunteers to help plan, organize, set-up and decorate, lead a game, donate and sell baked goods, and clean up! Lower and Upper Grade Potlucks
Whip up a favorite recipe to share with your fellow families. Spend the evening socializing and getting to know your child's classmates and other parents. The Lower Grade Potluck, for grades Pre-K through 2nd, will be Friday, October 21st and feature our favorite clown, Looney Louie. The Upper Grade Potluck, 3rd through 5th grades, will be held Friday, November 4th and include exciting, prize-winning Bingo.
Innisbrook Candy and Wrapping Paper Sales
This fundraiser begins in the early fall and offers everyone a chance to buy candy and wrapping paper for the holiday season. Stay tuned for more information in backpack flyers and on SchoolHub.
Barnes and Noble Bookfair
This year we are partnering with Barnes and Noble to raise money for our school. During the week of October 15th-21st a percentage of purchases made by PS 40 friends and family will be donated back to the school. Come and enjoy a fun, PS 40 planned, in-store event on Saturday, October 15th at the Union Square store. Keep an eye out for more information, please contact .
